What We Love Best About Homeschooling — Spring Leaves Style

• eating when we want to
Sadie and Lauren eating lunch when they're hungry

• all ages taking part in all activities

Ben and the Parker kids planting their seeds

• getting to participate in whole school activities
Hot dog lunch with the rest of the school
Joining in the planting at the school
• learning new skills at unexpected times in unexpected places
Grace learning to pump her legs while swinging

The Kikuchi family and friends learning oceanfront trampolining at the MacBeans
• getting to spend time with your kids (or parents, depending on your perspective!)
Moms and kids and bikes at the Bike Rodeo
• going cool places (sometimes on the school bus!) and meeting cool people
The Paralympic Leprechaun greets us as we arrive at the Thunderbird Arena, 17 March 2010
We represented Pender Island School at the Paralympics
Every Spring Leaf attended the Paralympics! (Emma with her mom, Rachel; Grace with her dad, Niall)

• making good friends
Isabela and Taeven (aka Laura and Mary) making salt dough together

Sean and Nigel reading together (reading together!)

• getting to see your siblings (parents, kids, friends) in new situations and through others' eyes
Nigel and Gavin with their dad and Nicholas at Crescent Beach

• learning lots, from lots of different "teachers" (including each other)
Karen teaching a lesson on wind energy to Grace, Emma and the others
"How do we know the wind is blowing?" elicited lots of responses

• getting to use the gym and all that great gym equipment at the school
Nicholas having fun swinging in the school gym

• all that fun stuff at the school!

Graeme enjoying the many cool toys in our classroom at the school

• getting to do stuff with other homeschoolers
